James Augustine Alogsius Joyce was an Irish expatriate writer, widely considered to be one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. He is best known for his novel Ulusses in 1922, and it's highly controversial successor novel Finnegans Wake in 1939. Among others, the short story collection, Dubliners in 1914 and the semi-autobiographical novel, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man in 1916.

I think the Irish writers had a good sense of detail and portrayed life in a very vivid manner. They captured the essence of the times they wrote in, and quinissentially captured imagery and creativity. The stories by Joyce will forever be classic and loved by people for years to come, and are benchmarks in literature. I highly suggest the readings of Joyce and Lewis, both masters of their genre.
